LEANNE WOOD MEMORIAL TROPHY
This is awarded to a person who has made an all-round contribution to the competition over a period of time, be it in playing coaching scoring, helping in the administration etc.
- ELIZABETH DRAPER: Elizabeth and her husband Dean joined the competition in 2017 as players and organizers of the Killah Beez Mixed team. Since this time Elizabeth has also been involved as a participant several womens teams before becoming the organizer of the Lynx Team. With the introduction of womens AFL, many of our female basketballers joined that sport. This saw our womens teams dwindle to just 5 at the end of 2019. During the past three years, Elizabeth has been a key person in enabling the womens competition grow back to the healthy 10 teams that participated this season. She has been very active in promoting the competition among her friends, acquaintances and general advertising in the community as well as filling in for teams when needed. Elizabeth has recently taken up umpiring and has covered for gaps in the roster when required.
- ASHLEY MANUEL: Ashley joined the competition in 2018 as a player for the Rockets Mens Team. In 2020 he helped the competition during the shift from Herb Graham Recreation Centre to Craigie Leisure Centre, by bringing in the Southern Ballerz Mixed Team and the Old Skool Ballerz Mens Team. Ashley is a generous, kind, caring and giving person who is always ready to help when needed. Most Saturdays, you will see him sitting on side of the court scoring for teams or simply talking to people who need someone to listen to them. Ashley has also been active behind the scenes promoting the competition and many people have joined us because of his enthusiasm and encouragement.
