When temperatures exceed 36 oC on the courts, the following will be applied to mitigate the effect of heat:
• Ensure all fans are turned on (where applicable).
• Referees are to call a compulsory time-out at the 10 min mark of each half.
• Should a team team have only 4 or 5 players then the referees are to call two compulsory timeouts each half. The first time-out must be 7 minutes into the half and the second 14 minutes into the half.
• Teams may also have full use of their regular timeouts.
• Referees are to be given water for hydration.
• Coaches, team captains and players need to be aware of and take appropriate action concerning heat, symptoms of heat stress, the need for proper hydration and the facilities available at Craigie Leisure Centre to prevent or treat heat stress,
Should the court temperature reach 40 degrees C, the Court Manager is to:
• Call an immediate halt in play.
• Not permit play to resume until the temperature on court falls below 40 oC
• Attempt to communicate with teams as to the feasibility playing games in later tine-slots. Abandoned or shortened game results will be determined under the Competition By-laws.
