LEANNE WOOD MEMORIAL TROPHY

Leanne Wood Memorial Trophy This is awarded to a person who has made an all-round contribution to the competition over a period of time, be it in playing coaching scoring, helping in the administration etc.

Kristen Pittard

Kristen joined the competition in 2017 as a player in the Remix womens team. Since this time Kristen has also been involved as a participant in the Not The Eddies team. With the introduction of the womens AFL teams many of our female basketball players gravitated to that sport. This saw our womens team numbers declining from an all time high of 16 down to just 5 at the end of 2019. During the 2019 Spring Competition and again throughout 2020, Kristen has been a key person who has helped the womens competition grow back to a healthy 10 teams. Kristen has been active behind the scenes in promoting the competition amongst her friends, acquaintances and general advertising in the community. Through her hard work the Blue Jays, Mustangs and Lightning teams have been formed and become successful with all three playing in this season’s grand finals.

Gerard Scott

Gerard first joined the competition in 2009 when he played in the Black Saints Mens C Team with his friends Darko Basarovski and Clifton Phillips. When this team folded, Gerard joined the IDKY team before retiring in 2014. However, this retirement was short-lived and Gerard re-joined the competition again in 2017 as a member of the Gang Green team who were then struggling for players. In 2019 he was a foundation member of the Soul Glo Mixed team. Over the time he has been involved with the Basketball Innovations Competition, Gerard has had personal success with several fairest and best awards as well as being a member of premiership teams. However, the most important contribution Gerard has made has been supporting and encouraging people to join the competition and assisting the Administration in helping make groups of individuals gel into competitive teams.
